Ask Ardith: A Fruitful Centerpiece
Adding Flowers to Fruit Makes for an Eye-catching Table Setting
Ingredients:
2 Aspidistra leaves
1 hydrangea blossom
3 large roses
1 stem lilies
5 tulips
2 stems Israeli Ruscus
2 stems Eucalyptus pods
2 stems Blupernum
2 stems hypericum
Supplies:
1 rectangle glass container
1 small Smithers Oasis Raquette (or piece of floral foam to fit inside of the glass container very snug) wrapped in plastic
Flower food
Fresh fruit, glass beads or stones with acolyte candles,
½” clear waterproof anchor tape (optional)
Variety of fresh flowers and foliages
3 aspidistra leaves
Instructions:
Fill container with desired contents to ½” below the edge of the container
Soak floral foam in water with flower food, secure with clear waterproof anchor tape. (Securing is optional, if the design will be transported.
Place aspidistra foliage around the edge of the foam and container. Covering the rim of the glass vase.
Add fresh flowers placing the larger flowers in first to create a base. The flowers and foliages will be added so the smallest flowers are on the outside so the butterflies can fly through.
Remove the floral foam on the top, set in sink, spray with water from the sprayer. Change the base products as you create a variety of beautiful designs.
